Board Appointment of Winifred Sandler Grinspoon

Harold Grinspoon Foundation Names Winifred Sandler Grinspoon President

AGAWAM, Mass. -- Winifred Sandler Grinspoon has been appointed President of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, a non-profit organization that support programs that enhance the vibrancy of Jewish life, primarily in North America and Israel.

She takes over responsibilities from Harold Grinspoon, 85, who created the foundation in the early 1990s and has served at its helm ever since.

Sandler Grinspoon, 51, is a trustee of the foundation, a position she has held since the organization's inception. Over the past decade, she has helped to steward the HGF's operations.

Programs of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation include PJ Library and Sifriyat Pijama, which, together with other funders, have gifted more than 10 million Jewish-themed books to children in North America, Israel and other countries; JCamp 180, a mentoring program that supports and builds the capacity of Jewish summer camps; Life & Legacy, which trains and incentivizes Jewish community organizations to secure meaningful, after-lifetime legacy gifts; and Voices & Visions, a commissioned art exhibit that leverages the power of visual art to communicate important Jewish ideas. HGF also supports many programs and institutions that enhance Jewish life in its local community of Western Massachusetts.

"My father-in-law is a true visionary who has approached philanthropy with the same entrepreneurial creativity that made him successful in business. I have been privileged to learn from him over many years," Sandler Grinspoon says. "As president of the foundation, I aim to continue the HGF legacy of innovation as we support the growth and development of organizations and programs that enhance a vibrant Jewish community."

A lawyer, lay leader, wife and mother of three, Sandler Grinspoon currently serves on the boards of the Jewish Funders Network and Cornell Hillel, and on the executive committee of the Boston Jewish Community Women's Fund. Prior to starting her own law practice, Sandler Grinspoon was a litigator with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP in New York, and with the Boston office of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, which has since merged to become K&L Gates LLP. She is a graduate of Cornell University and Fordham University School of Law.

"I feel so fortunate to have Winnie assume this role" says Harold Grinspoon. "Between her talent and passion for our organization and its mission, Winnie is the perfect person to lead the Harold Grinspoon Foundation going forward."
