The Lumin Society supports promising middle through high school students who have limited financial means. The HGCF provides financial support for students whom teachers recommend and a committee selects, based on students current academic success and community participation. The goal is to help those students achieve academic excellence, strive for higher education, and become successful community participants.

Since its inception in 1994, 61 Lumin students from Brookings Middle School have entered college with most of the students graduating with 2- and 4-year degrees. Students who remained in the program realized a 98% enrollment in college including:

    • John Hopkins University
    • Lasell College
    • Springfield Technical Community College
    • University of Connecticut
    • University of Massachusetts at Amherst
    • Western New England College
    • Westfield State College
    • Holyoke Community College
    • Bay Path College
    • Framingham State University
    • American International College

I am the first person in my family to ever go to college. They are so proud of me."
