PJ Library is seeking a business-savvy and financial minded Business Analyst for our flagship PJ Library Program – a program that partners with communities around the world to provide families raising Jewish children with the gift of free, high-quality children's books, music, and resources that foster deeper engagement with Jewish life.

About the Opportunity

The Business Analyst position offers the best of both worlds – an opportunity to be part of a team charged with evaluating program effectiveness and developing strategies to make more efficient, improve and grow the PJ Library Program, as well as the opportunity to work in a hands-on way developing and managing annual budgets for PJ Library. The Business Analyst will report to the Director of Operations and work closely with other program directors and c-suite executives in providing business direction for the Foundation’s largest and fastest growing program. Responsibilities:

  • Manage the tracking and reporting of data related to PJ Library – from expenditures and revenue, to enrollment and attrition metrics, to solicitation and fundraising metrics.
  • Track enrollment and attrition rates for PJ nationally and internationally and assist in developing strategies to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the program and resources.
  • Assist in the management of PJ Publishing, the foundation’s in-house publishing company.
  • Track both the financial and outcomes effectiveness of various initiatives with PJ and create and oversee the related reporting to include developing dashboards, KPI’s and other evaluation tools.
  • Assist various team members within PJ Library in creating and managing budgets for various special events and programs under the PJ umbrella.
  • Contribute to the creation and management of an annual $30 Million PJ Library budget that affects national and international initiatives.
  • Work closely with program directors and teams – specifically finance and data – for the Foundation’s various programs.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have worked in a business environment for 7-10 years having experience creating and managing large budgets. At heart, the Business Analyst will be passionate about working with numbers and budgets, but also get excited about program evaluation and business strategy.
     
    Required:
     
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Finance, Accounting, or Statistics emphasis preferred). Master’s degree a plus.
  • A minimum of 7-10 ten years of experience working in a business environment.
  • 5 Years minimum experience creating and managing large budgets.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate cost effectiveness and outcomes of various programs.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present reports to department heads and board members.
  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced and highly iterative environment.
  • An appreciation and passion for both business and social entrepreneurship.
  • Experience working with international projects, specifically reporting across multiple currencies.
