Jewish Experience Fund for Adults:
This grant is a pilot grant to fund Jewish experiences and will run on a first come, first served basis.
                                     
Welcome to the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s Adult Immersion Experience Grant. Please read these grant guidelines. If you qualify for an Adult Immersion Experience grant, please fill out an application and submit it to the Foundation at least four weeks prior to the date of the program.
 
What is the goal of the Jewish Experience Fund for Adults?
The goal of the Jewish Experience Fund for Adults is to encourage adults in Western Massachusetts (Hampshire, Hampden, Franklin and Berkshire counties) to participate in Jewish life through experiences that will be deeply meaningful and possibly transformative. 
 
Who is eligible?
Any Jewish adult (ages 21+) or any adult who is engaged in Jewish life and whose spouse/partner is Jewish, who wishes to participate in an organized Jewish event is encouraged to apply. Additionally, all applicants must be: 1) current residents of Western Massachusetts and 2) must have resided in Western Massachusetts for a minimum of one year.
 
What activities are funded?
Subsidies are available for participation in Jewish programs sponsored or under the auspices of local or national Jewish organizations. Examples of programs include:
  • Jewish retreats
  • Shabbatonim
  • Limmud events
  • National Havurah committee retreats
  • Conferences
  • Multi-day Jewish programs at Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center/Elat Chayyim
Please note that funding will not be considered for professional development or adult education courses.   If you are an educator working in a Resource Center for Jewish Education member school and you are seeking funding for professional development, please click here.
 
How much money can I apply for?
Applicants can apply for no more than 50% of the program cost up to a maximum of $500 per program. Any one applicant may not receive more than $500 from this fund per Foundation fiscal year. Please note that submission of application does NOT guarantee funding, or a specified amount of funding.
 
What if I am unable to attend the event I received HGF funding for?
If for any reason the grantee does not attend the event that he/she received funding for, he/she must return the funding to the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
 
Are there any requirements after the program?
Yes. We ask that grant recipients submit a conference summary sheet evaluating the program attended, along with a cover page on how they might to apply what was learned to the Western Massachusetts Jewish community.

How to Apply:

  1. Complete one copy of the application.  
  2. Submit a personal statement answering the following questions. Please limit your comments to 1 typed page.
    • Explain the program you are attending.
    • Please share what you hope to gain from your participation in this program
  3. Include with your application a copy of the conference registration and/or a bill. If there is a brochure for the program, please submit a copy of that as well.
  4. Submit your application at least four weeks prior to the program. (Preference will be given to individuals who have not yet received funding for the Adult Jewish Experience Grant)
  5. After the program, fill out the conference summary sheet with a paragraph explaining how you intend to apply what you have learned to the Western Massachusetts Jewish community.
