The Harold Grinspoon Foundation believes that Jewish children and teens (11-18) in our region will benefit from participation in high-quality Jewish teen programming that takes place outside of western Massachusetts (413 area code).
By sharing in-depth Jewish experiences with Jewish teens, local teens connect to the broader Jewish community and bring their experiences back to the local community.
If the program meets all of the eligibility requirements listed below, please complete the online application and submit it to the Foundation at least 3 weeks prior to the event.
Who is eligible?
Any teen, age 11-18 who is a resident of our region is eligible to apply for funding to participate in an organized, educational Jewish program that takes place outside of the region.
What programs qualify?
Eligible programs include those that demonstrate high-impact, meaningful Jewish content and values such as tzedakah, tikkun olam/social action, holidays, and/or leadership development.
A qualifying program is one that takes place outside of western Massachusetts and is sponsored by a recognized Jewish institution such as: national Jewish youth movements (USY, NFTY, NCSY, BBYO, etc.) or organized by a western Massachusetts youth group or JCC.
Programs may include retreats, shabbaton events, confirmation trips, day school and synagogue school trips. All programs must demonstrate strong educational and
integrated Jewish content.
The Year Round Youth Experience Fund does not support social, recreational, entertainment based programs or dues. The HGF reserves the right to decline any application based on this criteria.
What funding is available?
Applicants may apply for 50% of the cost of the program up to $500. Due to the large volume of grant requests and the HGF's desire to support teens in meaningful Jewish programming, the cost of the program must be at least $200 to be eligible for grant funding.
Application process:
- Complete the online application at least 3 weeks prior to the event.
- Within one week confirmation of receipt of the application will be provided. Any problems will be identified at that time.
- If approved, within 4-6 weeks after receiving email confirmation, the applicant will receive an award letter and a check. Checks will be made out to both the individual and the organization sponsoring the event. Please make arrangements accordingly.
What if I do not attend the program?
If for any reason the applicant does not participate in the program funded, the check must be returned to the HGF immediately.
