The Israel Travel & Study Grant is available to qualifying Jewish individuals (including adults, teens, families and youth groups) who reside in Western Massachusetts and Southern Vermont. This reimbursement grant helps to make Israel travel a possibility for individuals in the local community. The Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF) believes that individuals and families who take part in Israel travel and study opportunities return home with a deeper connection and appreciation for the Jewish heritage. Individuals can apply for 50% of the cost of the trip up to $1,000. Day schools and youth groups can apply for 50% of the cost of the trip up to $500.
EligibilityIn order to be eligible for the Israel Travel & Study Grant, the individual must:
- reside in Western Massachusetts or Southern Vermont
- identify as being Jewish
- be attending a trip under the sponsorship of an approved Jewish organization for a minimum of 7 days
- not have received an HGF Israel Travel & Study Grant within the last 3 years (Adults) or 1 year (Teens)
Trip QualificationsIn order to be eligible for the Israel Travel & Study Grant, a qualifying trip must:
- be sponsored and organized by an approved Jewish organization with a set itinerary
- be a minimum of 7 days
- include high-impactful and meaningful Jewish content
*Please note that the Israel Travel & Study Grant does not support social, recreational or entertainment-based programs. Private tours and private tour guides do not qualify for funding.
Organizations that are interested in this grant opportunity should contact the Grants Office at GTI@hgf.org to confirm program eligibility before advertising this grant to students. HGF asks that organizations confirm eligibility for every event, even if the event had been approved in the past.

. Applications must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to trip departure. When the application has been received, a notification will be sent via email. If the applicant does not receive an email from HGF confirming the receipt, please contact the Grants Office at 413-276-0700. Late applications will not be accepted.
In order to ensure a smooth process, we ask all applicants to check his/her email account frequently, as any application questions and final decisions will be sent out via email. Applicants will be notified of final decisions within 2 weeks of application submission.
