Residents of our region are encouraged to apply for Israel travel and study grants. If awarded, the grant is received in the form of a reimbursement. The reimbursement occurs upon the grantee's return from travel and after informing the HGF of their plans to share their experience in Israel.

If the program meets all of the eligibility requirements listed below, please complete the online application and submit it to the Foundation at least 4 weeks prior to the departure date.

Who is eligible?

1. Grants are available to residents of our region for travel or study under the auspices of an approved Jewish organization or institution

2. Teens are eligible to apply for a maximum of one trip every year

3. All trips must be a minimum of 7 days

4. Families on an organized trip (every family member going, regardless of age)

5. Adults and higher education students are eligible to apply for one trip every 3 years

6. Day school or synagogue student trips to Israel that are shorter than 4 weeks are eligible to apply for 50% of the cost up to $500

What funding is available?

Grants are administered on a reimbursement basis. Families, adults, higher education students and teens can apply for 50% of the cost up to $1,000.

Application process:

  • Submit the online application at least 4 weeks prior to the departure date. Late applications will not be accepted
  • Within one week confirmation of receipt of the application will be provided. Any problems will be identified at that time
  • Within 2-3 weeks after receiving email confirmation, the applicant will receive written confirmation of the grant denial or approval

How to receive reimbursement:

To receive the reimbursement, the grantee must email or mail a letter to the HGF, within 6 weeks upon return, detailing how they plan to share their experience in Israel with the local community or the grant will be cancelled. Once the return letter is received, it will take approximately 4-6 weeks to receive the reimbursement funding. All checks will be made out to the grantee.  Please send your return letter, pictures or picture discs to Mia Cogliantry at the Foundation or email to gti@hgf.org

What if the applicant does not go on the trip?

If for any reason the applicant does not participate in the trip funded, please inform the HGF immediately.
